Colden, New York, is home to Gabe's on the Hill, a thrift shop run by the Bread of Life Outreach Center. The center is a Christian ecumenical ministry that also operates a food pantry, which is a member of the Food Bank of WNY. Its work draws on the Gospel call to feed the hungry and clothe the naked.
The shop is open to the public five days a week, and shoppers enter through a purple door. Inside are furniture, children's and adult clothing, jewelry, shoes, purses and housewares. A section called Gabe's One Step Up sits within the store and carries a range of home goods and furniture. The outreach center takes donations and welcomes volunteers to help run the shop.
