Every dollar of profit at the Super Heroes Thrift Shop & Boutique goes to the Super Heroes Humane Society, an animal shelter in Oneonta, New York. Volunteers run the whole store. Donations it welcomes include small appliances, home decor, jewelry, new candles, DVDs and CDs, wall art, kitchen gadgets, cookware, dishes, complete puzzles and furniture, all of consignment quality. Clothing, shoes and handbags go to two partner shops, Silks and Treasures and Shakedown Street, where they are credited to the Super Heroes account.
Blue neon lines the walls above a sales floor stocked with jewelry displays, shelves of home goods and glass cases. The shop is open seven days a week and stays open into the evening on at least one of them.
