On the first and third Wednesdays of each month, the Helios Care Thrift Shop & Boutique in Oneonta holds half-off sale days, though tagged jewelry and furniture are left out of the sale. The shop is open five days a week. It is run by Helios Care, the hospice formerly known as Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, and all proceeds support its patients, families and children. Volunteers staff it entirely.
Racks hold women's and men's clothing and accessories alongside books, art, shoes, collectibles, jewelry, small furniture, household goods and seasonal décor. Community donations change the stock every day. The shop does not take used electronics, toys, baby items, medical equipment, videos or vinyl, clear glass or plastic kitchenware. Worn hardwood floors run beneath the racks, and a pale blue column stands in the middle of the sales floor.
