Donations come in Monday through Thursday during a midday window. The Hospice Shop in Arcata doesn't take children's items, electronics, mattresses or medical equipment, and it offers pickup and delivery for large furniture. Seniors get a discount every Wednesday, students every Saturday, and veterans every day of the week.
This resale shop is run by Hospice of Humboldt, and its sales support the nonprofit's end-of-life care, which includes hospice care, grief support and palliative services. Shopping there and donating household goods are two direct ways to back that work. It is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. The shop's name is painted on the glass front door in green and white lettering, and the walls inside are deep green and hung with framed artwork.
