Preloved clothing and accessories fill the racks at this Berkeley thrift shop, open four days a week from Wednesday through Saturday. Coats, jackets, sweaters, dresses, jeans, purses, jewelry, shoes and boots all come through its doors, and black walls frame the sales floor, with a tall wooden rack of sneakers just inside the entrance.
Donations go to the Dorothy Day House shelter and daytime drop-in center, which passes them along to the shop. Clean, like-new clothing, accessories and shopping bags are welcome, while children's clothing, toys, books and household goods are not, and all donated goods are tax deductible. Rebuilding Together and Dorothy Day House created Dorothy's Closet to benefit Berkeley's homeless community, and every purchase supports programs that help unhoused neighbors find a path back home.
