This charity shop in Chester raises money for Sierra Hospice, a nonprofit that has given free end-of-life care to local patients and their families since 1981. All proceeds go to the hospice's programs, which include in-home care and lending medical equipment at no cost. The racks and shelves hold clothing, furniture, toys, antiques, artwork and sporting goods, and new items arrive daily.
Donations come in through the second roll-up door on the side of the building, where staff review each item at drop-off. Qualifying donations are tax-deductible. Drop-offs are not taken on Wednesdays, on Sundays or on the first Saturday of each month, when the store holds a storewide sale. The store is open six days a week and closed Sundays. Its green building carries a red, white and blue Forget-Me-Not Thrift Store sign, with furniture set out front.
