This nonprofit thrift shop raises money for Parents and Friends, Inc., a Fort Bragg organization that helps people with developmental challenges take full part in community life. Every purchase supports its programs, including day programs, employment services and in-home support. The store began more than fifty years ago with the Paul Bunyan School, which taught local children with developmental disabilities, and with weekly yard sales that grew into the shop.
Open on weekdays, the Paul Bunyan Thrift Shop holds a rotating color-coded sale each month and offers a free rewards program and gift cards. It also sells through its own eBay store. The brown shingled front carries a sign showing Paul Bunyan beside a blue ox, and its windows hold clothing racks and furniture.
