San Clemente is home to The Pac-Rat, a shop that spells out its business on the front glass in white capitals: buy, trade, exchange. A white surfboard hangs across the top of that window, above the store's name in curling red script. Trading here sits right alongside buying, just as the lettering promises. The doors open six days a week, Sundays included, and stay open into the evening on at least one of those days.
