Helping Hands Thrift Shop has served Groveland since 1982 and is run by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that also operates a separate Furniture Barn nearby. The shop is open four days a week, and Wednesday is senior discount day for shoppers 60 and older. Racks of clothing fill the sales floor, and shelves of china, glassware and kitchenware line one side under a banner that honors the store's volunteers.
Donations are accepted at the thrift shop during its open days. Each donor can bring up to three 13-gallon bags or three small boxes per day. Large black bags and large boxes are not accepted, and all donations go through the back door. Furniture goes to the Furniture Barn, which takes it only when it has room.
