The Visalia ReStore, run by Habitat for Humanity of Tulare/Kings Counties, sells donated furniture, appliances, building materials and household goods, and all proceeds go to the affiliate's work across both counties. That work includes building affordable homes with volunteers, partners and the sweat equity of future homeowners. It also includes a home repair program that fixes health and safety problems so low-income residents, seniors and veterans can stay in their homes.
The store takes donations of the same kinds of goods, and pickup can be arranged. Volunteers help run the store and gather for furniture builds, making pieces that are later sold there. The ReStore is open four days a week in a white cinder-block building whose corners are painted in stepped blocks of bright blue and green.
