Every sale at The Shop raises money for the Junior League of Palo Alto•Mid Peninsula, a women's volunteer organization focused on community wellbeing. The resale store opened in Menlo Park in 1970. It sells used clothing, accessories and household goods, and it is especially known for designer clothing, handbags, shoes, crystal, china and other home furnishings.
League members, local retailers and the wider community supply the stock. Donations are taken on shopping days, except during sales, and they are tax deductible with a receipt. The shop also holds periodic sales. It is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Out front, a black sign with three white button emblems hangs over the walkway, and matching button decals run along the windows.
