Savers in La Quinta also runs a donation center, accepting clothing, shoes, bed and bath goods, books, electronics, toys, small appliances and small furniture on behalf of the American Red Cross. The Red Cross does not receive or hand out the donated goods. Instead, the store pays the organization for them, which helps fund its programs. A for-profit thrift company runs the store, so purchases do not benefit any nonprofit.
On the sales floor are clothing for the whole family, dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics. Shoppers 55 and older get a discount every Tuesday, and people who drop off donations receive a coupon for a later purchase. A red lowercase sign sits on the store's curved stucco front, between pillars faced in tan stone tile. The doors are open seven days a week, into the evening.
