Donations of clothing, linens, housewares, furniture and small appliances come in at Martha's Thrift Store in Indio during a set midday window. A donation form is also available. Paint, chemicals, firearms, auto parts and tires aren't accepted, and neither are used mattresses, used undergarments or broken furniture. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
Martha's Village & Kitchen runs the shop, and every purchase and donation helps it provide food, clothing and shelter to people facing homelessness and poverty. The nonprofit was founded in 1999. The racks carry clothing and shoes for every age along with handbags, bedding, dishes, luggage, antiques, and dining and bedroom furniture. The low building has a brown wood-shingle roof, and dining chairs and patio loungers line the walkway out front.
