A community thrift and vintage shop, Found*SJ sells donated clothing, furnishings, housewares, books, collectibles and ephemera. Every sale benefits the Preservation Action Council of San Jose, a nonprofit, member-based group working to preserve the city's architectural and cultural heritage through advocacy, education and civic engagement. Volunteers run the hub, which opens on Thursdays and Saturdays and stays open into the evening.
Donations are dropped off on Mondays or by appointment, and the shop takes newer and vintage items in good condition that can be resold. Furniture needs approval in advance, while mattresses, sofas, cribs, car seats, plush toys, older electronics and hazardous materials are turned away. Giant brown "SJ" letters cover the front of its white metal building with red trim.
