In Converse, Texas, Isabel's Thrift Store keeps a six-day schedule and closes on Sundays. On at least one of those days, its doors stay open into the evening. Bold red lettering across the front windows advertises furniture, appliances, jewelry and layaway, beneath a red-on-gold sign that carries the store's name.
