Sales at this Houston thrift store pay for job training and placement for people who face barriers to employment, including veterans, older workers, at-risk youth, the formerly incarcerated and individuals with disabilities. Goodwill Houston Select Stores is run by Goodwill Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every purchase and donation here goes toward its work of educating, training and hiring people so they can thrive.
The store is open seven days a week and stays open into the evening. Bright blue panels on its front windows read Shop, Donate, Discover and Engage, next to Goodwill's smiling "g" sign. Beyond its job programs, the organization works to connect people, families and communities and to meet the region's workforce needs now and in the years ahead.
