Jake's Buried Treasure, a thrift store in Humble, Texas, carries the slogan "Fashion with Compassion" and supports Jake's House of Animal Rescue. The rescue takes in dogs that have been abandoned, abused or neglected, working in partnership with animal shelters and rescue organizations across the greater Houston area. Its work follows three steps: rescue, restore and rehome.
Dogs taken in by the rescue heal on The Wildflower Ranch, a property with wide open spaces and natural surroundings. Trained staff build a restorative plan for each dog that addresses physical and emotional healing in preparation for adoption into a permanent family. The store is open four days a week, and a Jake's Buried Treasure sign hangs in its front window beside the shop door.
