Through a voucher program, residents of the shelter run by Hope's Door New Beginning Center pick out what they need at Hope's Door Resale Store in Plano at no charge. The rest of the merchandise is sold to the public. All proceeds fund the center's free programs for survivors of domestic abuse. The store carries clothing for women, men and children, plus shoes, bags, belts, jewelry, luggage, books, media, home decor and full sets of kitchenware.
Donations come in through the west-facing side doors Monday through Saturday, and staff there start the process. Clothing goes in white or clear bags, and furniture needs management approval first. A dark sign with white serif lettering hangs beneath a tan metal awning. The store is open seven days a week, and stays open into the evening.
