Job training and placement for people facing barriers to employment is what sales at the Telfair Goodwill in Sugar Land support. Those served include veterans, older workers, at-risk youth, people who were formerly incarcerated and individuals with disabilities. The store is run by Goodwill Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that educates, trains and hires these workers.
The Telfair location is both a thrift store and a donation center, so shoppers can buy secondhand goods and drop off items in the same place. The doors are open seven days a week, with evening hours every day. The tan building is trimmed with pale stone columns, and its blue script sign carries a Goodwill logo with a Texas flag design.
