Every sale at this Lufkin shop helps fund the Family Crisis Center of East Texas, a nonprofit that has served survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault since 1979. All of the store's proceeds stay in East Texas and pay for free emergency shelter, advocacy, food and safety programs. Donations keep the shelves stocked, and the center offers free pickup for quality furniture and large household items.
Clothing, kitchenware and furniture are the core of what the store carries. Survivors leaving abusive situations get free vouchers to furnish their new homes with these goods at no cost. The shop is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. Red letters spelling "Thrift Store" run beneath the center's white tree-logo sign on its stone-faced front.
