In Athens, Texas, Big Thrifty runs its secondhand shop out of a whitewashed brick building. An orange banner stretched above the entrance carries the store's name in bold black capitals, and a pair of white French doors with tall glass panes leads inside. Shoppers can come by five days a week to browse what the store has on its floor. Along with selling secondhand goods, Big Thrifty also takes donations, a point spelled out in dark lettering across the bottom of that same banner.
