Every purchase at the Brenham Goodwill feeds back into a workforce mission. The thrift store in Brenham, Texas, is run by Goodwill Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and it opens its doors seven days a week, staying open into the evening. Bright blue panels across its front windows read Shop, Donate, Discover and Engage, next to a Goodwill sign marking the donation drop-off center.
Money from the store's sales goes toward educating, training and hiring people who face barriers to employment, and toward connecting families and communities with the workforce needs of today and tomorrow. That support takes the form of job training and placement services for veterans, older workers, at-risk youth, people who were formerly incarcerated and individuals with disabilities.
