The St. Vincent de Paul Society thrift store in Fredericksburg is run by the local chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization whose members offer person-to-person service to people in need. The store's sales support the Society's assistance programs, which help with everyday, emergency and extraordinary needs. The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and it also sells items through its own eBay store.
Goods can be dropped off at the store or left in the Society's donation bins, and pickups can be scheduled for larger items. The Society also accepts donated vehicles. Volunteers staff the store, which is open on weekdays and closed on weekends. Its sales floor is filled with upholstered sofas and armchairs, with shelves of glassware and housewares behind them.
