Approved Emergency Aid clients of Ecumenical Ministries Inc. can get the items they need from Emmy's Thrift Shop at no cost. Other shoppers browse a mix of clothing, home goods and electronics. Profits from the Fairhope store fund the social service programs of Ecumenical Ministries, a non-denominational agency that has helped low-income families and individuals for more than 55 years.
Donations are accepted on weekdays only and are dropped off under the awning behind the store. The shop is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. A green metal awning runs the full length of the tan building, below a peaked sign that carries the Ecumenical Ministries emblem and the shop's name.
