SuperThrift Pensacola on Mobile Highway sends all of its sales proceeds to Teen Challenge residential programs, which help teens and adults recovering from addiction and other life-controlling issues. The store is run by Teen Challenge Southeast, a faith-based nonprofit, and its shelves carry secondhand clothing, furniture and household items. Program participants work in the store and train in customer service and retail operations.
Donated household goods are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows, and donors with larger items can request a pickup. The store is open six days a week, stays open into the evening on at least one of them, and closes on Sundays. Out front, a lit white sign with a star logo spells out the Teen Challenge SuperThrift name.
