Troy, Alabama, is home to this Salvation Army Thrift Store, which is connected to the Pike County Service Center of The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. The service center gives community-based help to individuals and families in need, and the organization's mission is to meet human needs without discrimination.
The store takes donated goods such as clothing and furniture. Gifts to The Salvation Army help pay for meals, shelter and support for local neighbors. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays. Inside, shelves full of VHS tapes line the wood-paneled walls, with record albums in display racks and older tube televisions set on the floor beside upholstered furniture.
