A charity-run thrift shop in Athens, Alabama, the Salvation Army Family Store keeps its doors open five days a week. Above the entrance, a large white banner spells out "Family Thrift Store" in bold gray capitals against a facade of tan metal panels. The shop goes by that shorter name on its own signage, and it operates as a local Salvation Army location. Every purchase made here helps pay for the charity's rehabilitation programs for adults.
