In Inverness, Florida, the Key Thrift Store raises money for the Key Training Center, a nonprofit that has served adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1966. Sales help pay for residential housing, day services, vocational training and other programs for the people the Key serves. The store carries clothing, furniture, household goods, décor, books and collectibles, and its doors are open seven days a week.
Donations are taken at the store during set hours. For large or bulky items, the Key's Distribution team offers free pickup and free home cleanouts, with trucks running every day and tax receipts available. Most merchandise is marked down during a monthly Half-Price Weekend. Out front, a white sign with bold blue lettering hangs below a bright blue metal roof.
