This church-backed thrift store is run by Christian Social Services, a ministry of local churches that provides food, clothing, supportive services and Christian hospitality to people in need. Pastors and lay people from area churches founded the organization in the winter of 1985, and it opened its doors in August 1987. Alongside the store, the ministry runs a food pantry and offers back-to-school and holiday help for local families.
The store sells clothing and more and is open five days a week, closed Sundays and Mondays. Donations are accepted Tuesday through Saturday during set daytime hours, though intake sometimes closes early when weather or a flood of items strains the space for processing them. A white dove sits atop the stepped front of the bright red building.
