Cat adoptions happen right inside Thrift Store Central, and nearly 100 cats found homes through the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast's thrift stores over the past year. The humane society runs the shop, and its sales fund the shelter's lifesaving programs. New merchandise arrives daily, from designer clothing and mid-century furniture to linens, housewares, art and jewelry. Copper-colored panels fill the arches above its stone columns.
Donations go in at the rear of the store and must be clean, stain-free and in good working order. Clothing, handbags, shoes, collectibles, books and home décor are needed most. Large furniture can be picked up from a home's first floor or from climate-controlled storage if booked a week or two ahead. The store is open seven days a week, with evening hours midweek.
