The Pine Island Attic raises much of the money behind Beacon of HOPE Pine Island's community programs. The nonprofit has served islanders since 2004, providing groceries, housing help, education and disaster recovery. The store sells men's and women's clothing, shoes, purses and jewelry, along with dishes, linens, home decor, small appliances, books, tools and bikes. Its long, single-story building is painted bright blue and has purple doors.
Donations are accepted on weekdays until mid-afternoon. Small furniture such as nightstands, chairs and lamps is welcome, but mattresses, sofas, large appliances and electronics are not. Every Tuesday brings discounts on clothing, shoes, hats and purses, and storewide markdowns run on set Tuesdays and Thursdays each month. The Attic is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
