A nonprofit thrift shop in downtown Swarthmore, Heart & Soul'd sells new and secondhand goods and gives its proceeds to partner nonprofits, called Mission Matches, that serve foster and adoptive families. Its newest Mission Match is Family Support Line, a children's advocacy center. The store is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
The shop accepts donated new and lightly used items in good condition, along with gifts of money, and it also offers volunteer opportunities. Beyond sales, it aims to be a welcoming space for children and adults who have experienced adoption and foster care, and it shares information about its partner organizations inside the store. A wooden heart-shaped sign hangs beside the bright yellow front door. The store opens five days a week, Sundays included.
