Run by the La Tienda Guild of Valley Children's Healthcare, this Fresno thrift shop raises money for Valley Children's and its care of young patients. Guild members staff the shop entirely, and everything on its shelves comes from community donations. The stock centers on collectibles and one-of-a-kind secondhand pieces. A red banner across the front windows names the hospital that the sales benefit.
The shop is open on weekdays and closed on weekends. Anyone who wants to help can volunteer by becoming a guild member. La Tienda first opened in 1952, the same year as Valley Children's, and like the hospital it has grown and expanded over the decades.
