Neighborhood Industries runs Neighborhood Thrift as a social enterprise. It opened in 2008 to help the economy of south Fresno, and its businesses now fund jobs, employment training and workforce development for people in the neighborhood. The sales floor holds a large stock of clothing, plus furniture, household goods, electronics, shoes, toys, books, music and movies. Its red-and-blue sign hangs on a curved tan brick wall under black gooseneck lamps.
Donations are taken daily at a roll-up door at the back of the store, and free pickups can also be scheduled. The store does not accept damaged furniture, car seats, cribs, mattresses or hazardous materials. Doors open seven days a week and stay open into the evening. Regular deals include Media Mondays, Double Stamp Sundays, rotating color-tag markdowns and everyday discounts for seniors and veterans.
