Janet's Korner in Slidell is open to the public six days a week, closed Sundays, and sells new and secondhand clothing, shoes and household goods. Donations are dropped off on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The store takes clean items in good repair, especially men's and children's clothing, along with small furniture, jewelry, small appliances, antiques, tools and bicycles. It does not take large furniture, car seats, computers or books.
Community Christian Concern runs the store. This nonprofit assistance agency also operates a food pantry and a housing program for homeless men. All proceeds help feed, clothe and house neighbors in need. Eligible families, including those recovering from fires or natural disasters, shop free after meeting with a neighbor advocate. The store shares a red-brick front with the agency, and both names are lettered in white on its glass doors.
