Every purchase at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop in San Diego helps fund the organization's advocacy, research and patient support programs for people with cancer and their families. The shelves hold high-quality used and new merchandise, including collectible and vintage pieces. All of it is donated by the community and curated before it goes on sale. The Discovery Shop program has been running for 60 years, with locations in six states and an online store.
Donated goods and volunteer time both go toward the same mission, and a Discovery Rewards program gives regular shoppers ways to save and earn. The shop is open seven days a week. A blue-and-white Discovery Shop sign hangs above rust-red awnings on its tan stucco front.
