Home improvement goods fill the Brookings Habitat ReStore, a reuse store run by Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity. Its shelves hold furniture, hand and power tools, hardware, lumber, doors, flooring, tile, appliances and dish sets. Profits help build shelter, stability and self-reliance in Brookings and in communities around the world. The store occupies a long white metal building with a dark gray base and a Habitat ReStore sign on its gable end.
Donations can be dropped off during donation hours, and a pickup can be requested for items that are hard to haul. Donated items need to be clean, in working order and free of major damage. Seasonal goods such as grills, snowblowers and holiday decorations are taken only in their season. Shoppers can come in four days a week.
