Home improvement goods and household items fill the Hilo ReStore, which is run by Habitat for Humanity Hawai'i Island. Proceeds from its sales go toward ending poverty housing on the island. Local businesses and community members donate all of the stock, so it changes daily. It runs from building materials, doors, cabinets and flooring to furniture, lighting, tools and dishware. Corrugated metal walls line the shop, and a hand-painted "Room For: Inspiration" sign hangs above one corner.
Donations are screened before they are accepted, and items should never be left outside the store after hours. This location also takes clothing, footwear and linens. The store is open weekdays and closed weekends, and it usually also closes on the first Wednesday of each month to reset the sales floor.
