In Honolulu, the Savers thrift store sells secondhand clothing for the whole family, along with dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics. A for-profit company runs the store, so purchases don't benefit a charity. Donations do. The store takes clothing, shoes, bed and bath goods, toys, sporting goods, small appliances and small furniture on behalf of United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawai‘i, which is paid a fee for every pound of donated goods.
Every Tuesday is Senior Tuesday for shoppers 55 and older. Super Savers Club members get Member Mondays and members-only sales. Dropping off clothing or household items earns a discount on a later purchase. The store is open seven days a week, with evening hours, and a large red lowercase sign runs across its pale front.
