In Gloucester, St. John's Gloucester, an Episcopal parish, runs St. John's Thrift Shop together with its Regal Rummage clothing department. Parishioners donate the goods and clothing, and all proceeds fund the church's outreach and other charitable work in the community. Both are open to the public on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The thrift shop fills the Parish Hall with household items, furnishings, bedding and decor, along with fabrics, yarns, patterns, toys, cards, books and supplies for many kinds of crafts. The stock also includes china, crystal and paintings by local artists, both current and past. A cream-colored china cabinet holds glassware, and shelves of books line one wall. Clothes, shoes, purses and accessories are sold in Regal Rummage on the church's third floor.
