Ten percent of gross sales at Conley's Community Thrift Shop goes to local charitable organizations, and another five percent goes to individuals in need. Conley's United Methodist Church runs the shop in Lewes, Delaware. Its volunteers listen to and encourage the people who come in. The stock covers furniture for every room, books, appliances, clothing for men, women and children, housewares, toys and electronics.
The shop is open for sales five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday, and also runs a pole barn. Donations are taken during set hours on most open days but not on Fridays, and nothing should be dropped off after hours. Outside, a row of white sheds with gray shingled roofs holds more merchandise, with ball caps clipped along their doors.
