Open since March 27, 1951, Christ Church Thrift Shop in Coronado was first known as "The Opportunity Shop," or "Opp Shop." Christ Church Coronado, an Episcopal parish, runs it. Sales support the church and the Christ Church Day School, along with military families, disabled veterans, local and national philanthropic organizations, and worldwide disaster relief.
The shop sells new and pre-loved clothing and accessories for men, women and children, as well as vintage collectibles, antiques, housewares, toys, puzzles and books. New items arrive daily. It takes donations of clean clothing, toys, games and working household goods, from cookware to lamps to bicycles, during open hours only. The space is small, so it turns away TVs and large or heavy furniture. Donors receive receipts for tax purposes.
