Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church runs Thrift Cottage, a volunteer-staffed resale shop in Coronado housed in a former World War II WAVES barracks that was moved onto the church campus in 1947. The church took over an earlier clothing resale business, and the shop reopened in this building in January 1983. A green scalloped awning with white Old English lettering marks its door.
The shop carries apparel for women, men and children, plus accessories, household items, dishes, appliances, books and toys. Limited space rules out furniture and most electronics. Donations are accepted without an appointment whenever the shop is open, five days a week, and come with a tax receipt. Sales support church and local charitable ministries, scholarships, military families, disabled veterans and the AWANA children's program.
