Every dollar raised at the Hope House Thrift Shop in Norfolk, Virginia, goes to Hope House Foundation, which serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The foundation's work lets those adults live independently in their own homes or apartments, however complex their disabilities may be.
The sales floor carries furniture, linens, clothing, shoes and accessories alongside art, household goods, books and records. Each donated item is checked before it goes out to make sure it is fit for reuse and meets the shop's standards for quality and cleanliness. Donations and purchases from people across southeastern Virginia keep the shop running. Furniture delivery is not currently offered. The shop is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
