Killeen sits beside Fort Hood, and just inside the Clear Creek Gate this thrift and consignment shop, once called Cavazos Community Thrift Shop, has run for over 40 years. It is open to the public, with visitors getting a pass at the Marvin Leath Visitor Center. Profits go toward grants and philanthropic efforts supporting groups such as the USO, Veterans in Need, local schools and nonprofits on base.
Donated and consigned goods fill the shop, from furniture, home decor and kitchen gadgets to sporting goods, kids and baby items and clothing, with inventory changing daily. Consigning requires a valid military ID and items in resellable condition without stains or damage. Weekly tag color sales run throughout the year, and the shop is open four days a week. It occupies a tan metal-sided building.
