Run by the Erie United Methodist Alliance, the Rainbow Connection Thrift Store in Erie sells new and secondhand clothing, furniture and household goods. All sale proceeds go to EUMA programs working to end homelessness for families, veterans, youth and others affected by poverty. The store's name is painted across its cream block wall in bands of red, gold, green and blue, next to the United Methodist cross and flame.
Donated items also go straight to people in need through the Rainbow Connection Voucher Assistance Program. It provides free clothing and necessities to EUMA clients and to adults and children from 24 local shelters and social service organizations. Donations are taken in during store hours, and pick-up can be arranged. The shop is open on weekdays and closed on weekends.
