Grand Island Mission Avenue Thrift holds a bag sale every Wednesday, when shoppers fill a store bag with whatever fits. The store is run by Crossroads Mission Avenue, and all proceeds go directly to helping homeless men, women and families through the mission. It carries furniture, clothing, household goods, linens, home improvement items, books and vinyl records. A deep red metal roof tops the building, with a cream Crossroads Mission Avenue sign above the entrance.
Donations can be dropped off at the store during business hours or left at any time in a Win Bin. Volunteers help stock the floor, sort donations and set up displays. The store is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
