Every dollar raised at the Russell Home Thrift Store goes toward running the Russell Home for Atypical Children, a private, non-profit residence in Orlando that gives severely disabled children specialized care around the clock. The Home has operated continuously for more than 60 years without government support.
All the merchandise comes from community donations. It includes antiques, women's clothing, menswear, household décor, kitchen accessories, casual dinnerware, china and cookware. The store is open Tuesday through Saturday, and it takes donations on those same five days, with drop-off ending an hour before closing. Teal-trimmed signs above the brick-and-glass storefront point to furniture and home goods on one side and clothing and accessories on the other, and a sign on the door asks donors to take their items to the back.
