Bambino Thrift Shop has been raising money for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland since it opened in 1928. The nonprofit Oakland shop is run by volunteers from several of the hospital's fund-raising Branches, joined by community members. Its proceeds go toward the hospital's essential needs, including medical equipment, at a hospital where no child is turned away for inability to pay.
This small charity boutique carries household goods, clothing for the whole family, toys, books and antiques, all donated by the community. A rare and high-end collection is also sold online through the shop's Etsy store. Bambino is open five days a week, and a white banner over the entrance shows a row of colorful paper-doll children beneath the shop's name.
