Weekdays are the time to shop at Rains County Good Samaritans, a thrift store in Emory, Texas, that keeps its doors shut on Saturdays and Sundays. The shop runs under the name of the Rains County Good Samaritans organization itself rather than the banner of a national resale chain. Its trade is secondhand goods, bought and sold through a single Emory storefront. Every purchase made at the counter goes to that same locally named organization, which operates the store under its own identity.
